The defeat for Jon Jones last Saturday (03) cost something more Daniel Cormier than his undefeated record and the chance to become light heavyweight champion. After the setback, Cormier, who was part of the weight-for-pound ranking, which lists the organization's 15 best athletes regardless of their categories, left the select group and gave way to the Swede Alexander Gustafson.

Now, Gustafsson is ranked 15th in the weight-for-weight rankings. Who also benefited from Cormier's departure was the Brazilian Vitor belfort. With the vacancy left by the North American, the “Phenomenon” rose to 14th place.

Other athletes who passed through the octagon at UFC 182 last Saturday (03) also had their positions within the categories changed in the latest official ranking update. Unlike what happened with Cormier, however, the trio, who won on the night, moved up the list. Are they: Donald Cerrone, Hector Lombard and Kyoji Horiguchi.

After his sixth victory in 14 months, Cerrone jumped to third place in the official lightweight rankings, behind only the champion Anthony Pettis, of the next challenger Rafael dos Anjos and from Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov. Lombard, who beat Josh Burkmann by unanimous decision, gained a position and is now fifth at welterweight. The biggest leap, however, was from Horiguchi. The Japanese gained three positions and now occupies eighth place in the flyweight division.
