Shogun: “In my career I have always been the underdog”

There are only a few days left to face Lyoto Machida for the UFC light heavyweight title, Mauricio Shogun He shows a lot of confidence in the work done to take the belt from the current champion, even though his opponent has been declared a strong favorite. In an interview with the American website MMA Mania, the black belt from Curitiba stated that this is not the first time that he has been the underdog on the betting exchanges and he doesn't care about that:

“For most of my career I always tended to be the underdog. I was the underdog for my last fight with Chuck Liddell, I was the underdog at Pride when I faced Quinton'Rampage' Jackson, and he was an underdog at the entire Pride GP in 2005, so nothing is new,” said Shogun, who said he studied Machida's game.

“My team and I watched a large number of tapes and did our homework. Machida is a great fighter, but everyone has weaknesses and strengths, there are no perfect fighters. As he said, a fight is a fight, and many things can happen”, believes the UDL leader.
