Dominick Cruz suffers new knee injury and is out indefinitely

North American fighter, who spent three years without fighting due to injury, shared the news on social media

The plans for Dominick Cruz in competing for the UFC bantamweight belt suffered a major setback. This Monday (22), the former title holder revealed that he suffered another serious knee injury, so the athlete has no prediction of when he will be able to return to fighting.

In recent years, Cruz's career has been seriously hampered by knee injuries. He suffered two serious injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee, having been out of fights for almost three years and even losing the belt in the 61 kg division due to inactivity.

Cruz returned to competition in September of this year, when he ran over Takeya Mizugaki and won the right to fight for the title against the current champion,TJ Dillashaw. However, in your account Facebook, the North American broke the bad news: “It is with great sadness that I announce that I have suffered yet another injury to my anterior cruciate ligament. This time it's in my right knee, unlike my other two injuries to the same ligament”, explained the fighter.

“Unfortunately, this is beyond my understanding and control. I have no plans to return, but I trust and know that I will give my heart and soul to return to the Octagon. I want to thank the UFC, my fans and sponsors for their support and prayers. I thank you more than you can understand. I have no other facts to share right now. Along with my team, I respectfully ask for privacy at this difficult time. Thank you”, he concluded.

The revelation came a few days after UFC Barueri, an event in which Cruz attended as a guest. It was not disclosed whether the injury occurred before or after the event last Saturday (20).
