No one was more displeased than Khabib Nurmagomedov with the rise of Rafael dos Anjos to first place in the lightweight category and his confirmation as the next challenger for the title. On social media, the Russian minimized the importance of the official Ultimate rankings and claimed to be the true number one in the 70 kg division. However, his provocation went unnoticed by Rafael, who published his rejoinder through the Twitter and didn't miss the chance to needle his rival.

“The reason I'm the number one contender and the next title contender is that I'm an active fighter. I fought four times in eight months and I have 17 fights in the UFC. I am blessed to not have any serious injuries”, wrote the Brazilian on the microblogging network, mentioning the fact that Khabib has not fought since the duel between them, in April this year, due to a series of injuries.
