Renan Barão's father is hospitalized in RN

The father of the former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao, Netinho Pegado, 48 years old, went through a huge scare and had to be rushed to hospital this Friday (05) in Natal (RN), where he lives. The information was released by the Bellator champion Patrick Pitbull, who also lives in the capital of Rio Grande do Norte and asked for prayers from fans and friends.

“I ask God to watch over the life and health of our master Netinho Pegado and that in a few days we can be sharing the same mat and having lots of laughs! Guys, I ask you to pray for the life of this humble, hardworking, friend, teacher and great man. May God free you from all evil. Master Netinho had a stroke and is waiting to undergo surgery. Please pray for him,” Pitbull posted on his official profile on Facebook.

The suspicion of a cerebrovascular accident (CVA) initially raised by Pitbull, however, was not confirmed, according to information published on the website of the “Combate” channel. According to the publication, Netinho actually presented with ischemia, and with a slight improvement in the afternoon it is possible that even a surgical intervention will not be necessary.

Until now, Renan Barao, whose father was his first martial arts master, did not officially comment on what happened. The fighter is scheduled to fight on December 20th, in Barueri (SP), when he faces Canadian Mitch Gagnon in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 58.
