The long-awaited debut of Chris Cyborg in the rooster division, the same one in which he operates Ronda Rousey, it hadn't happened so far. The Brazilian confirmed that her next fight at the Invicta event, with no date yet set, will be in the featherweight category, in which she is the current champion.

Cyborg was scheduled to debut at bantamweight (up to 61 kg) next weekend, but was removed from her fight after suffering an ankle injury. Precisely because she returned from a period of inactivity, the Brazilian postponed the change and should remain at featherweight (up to 66 kg), as she does not intend to cut weight while recovering from an injury.

“I haven't fought in a long time. With this injury, I believe the best option will be to remain in my category. I can't wait any longer, I need to fight. I’m the featherweight champion and Invicta needs me to defend my belt”, explained the Brazilian, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

Inactive in MMA since July last year, Cyborg believes she will be ready to fight at the beginning of next year. “I believe I'm ready to fight in February. I’m slowly returning to training, so I won’t get injured again,” she concluded.
