MMA veteran and currently under contract with Bellator, Joe Vedepo was involved in a big mess last Friday (28). The 32-year-old athlete was arrested after attacking police officers while drunk in Iowa City, in the US state of Iowa.

Vedepo refused to leave a bar, which led to the police being called. The fighter, claiming to “know his rights”, resisted the police’s actions, starting a huge fight. Vedepto then severely assaulted a police officer, including headbutting him in the chest, in addition to other minor blows to other officers. A stun gun was used, but to no avail.

Already arrested, Vedepo underwent a test that showed that the alcohol level in his blood was three times higher than that allowed by law. He remains in prison and will face several charges, including causing bodily harm to a police officer, misbehaving and assaulting two police officers. His bond is $10.

Bellator president Scott Coker told the North American website “MMA Junkie” that he will wait for the process to unfold to decide what he will do about Vedepo. However, if the allegations are confirmed, Coker reported that he will fire the fighter.
