The month of November was not the best for Jimi Manuwa. The fighter, scheduled to face Mauritius Shogun in the main attraction of UFC Uberlândia, he left the fight at short notice due to a foot injury. In addition to not being able to get back on track to winning ways, Manuwa saw his replacement, Ovince St Preux, defeat Shogun in just a few seconds of fighting.

However, anyone who thinks that Manuwa felt bitter about recent events is mistaken. The English fighter did not regret leaving the fight and explained the injury that left him out. “I think I made the right decision in the end. Before I went to Sweden to finish my training, I injured my foot in a sparring session. But I continued treating the injury and it caused stress on another part of the foot. This resulted in a fracture and I didn't really understand it, as the x-rays showed nothing. Then, I returned to London before traveling to Brazil and the UFC made me undergo an MRI and that revealed the fracture”, said Manuwa, in an interview with the YouTube channel “WHOATV”.

“Posterboy”, however, does not believe that he would necessarily defeat Shogun quickly considering what St. Preux did. “It was a good job from St. Preux. He did a great job knocking out Shogun, but the fight probably would have been different if it had been me. But I was watching the fight and as soon as it was over, I turned off the TV and went to sleep. Sport is like that and I don’t think about it too much,” he concluded.
