Sakuraba in kimono at Chute Boxe

Japanese Kazushi Sakuraba, an old acquaintance of Brazilian fighters and fans, was in a new period of training at Chute Boxe in Curitiba, Paraná. Sakuraba, who gained fame in Brazil after beating countless Brazilians, including Royce, Royler and Ryan Gracie, ended up becoming friends with the Curitiba natives of Chute Boxe after his defeats to Wanderlei Silva. His third stint with the Curitiba team was once again a featured article in the Japanese magazine Kakutougi Tsushin, which dedicated two pages to the visit of Sakuraba, who wore a kimono and black belt, to Brazil and his training for Yarennoka, which will take place on December 31st this year at the Saitama Super Arena.

“He trained very well. We placed more emphasis on Muay Thai, which was in need of polishing. His ground game is unremarkable, but he had lost the essence of his striking a little. He didn't have much anymore, as he didn't train he lost a little. He was in a hotel near Japan Square, so he was walking to the gym. We would spend 9am at the hotel, go to the gym and train Vale-Tudo in the morning, after lunch, in the afternoon, we would do weight training and do floor training. In the evening Muay Thai with master Rafael”, said Daniel Acácio.
