The experienced Edilberto Crocotá entertained the Bahian fans at Shooto Brasil 51, an event held on Friday night, in Salvador. The former UFC fighter submitted Felipe Avelar with a katagatame in the second round. The triumph took place on Crocotá's birthday, under the eyes of José Aldo and Acelino Popó. In the second most important fight of the night, fellow veteran Jurandir Sardinha needed three rounds to defeat Aliston Cordeiro with a unanimous decision from the judges.

In the audience, two of the national sports idols, the UFC champion José Aldo and four-time boxing world champion Acelino “Popó” Freitas, who helped some fighters on the card during training camp, attended a main fight that certainly left them both wanting to put on their gloves.

Edilberto Crocotá took the center of the cage and attacked Felipe Avelar, dominating the distance with his refined boxing, but was caught by surprise by the Minas Gerais native, who knocked him down. The Bahian recovered immediately, but it was only in the second round that he ran over: striking in a line, he hit Felipe Avelar with a straight right, causing him to be knocked down twice in a row and looking for a guillotine choke, which ended up not landing.

The fight, surprisingly, turned to Avelar, who took down Crocotá again, this time with a straight shot, but was unable to knock him out. The Bahian landed a great takedown, and went to the ground with a practically armed katagatame. Then it was just a matter of adjusting and pressing for the miner to give the three taps. The problem was precisely the delay in releasing the opponent, even with referee Carlão Barreto demanding that he do so. The attitude caused the irritation of Cristiano Titi, leader of Avelar's team, and generated a harsh reprimand from the organization for the night's birthday boy, who had turned 32 years old. Crocotá then apologized to everyone for what happened.

In the co-main event, Jurandir Sardinha used his experience to put young Aliston Cordeiro on the ground numerous times and dominate the fight to win on points. The most emotional moment was in the third round, when Cordeiro got the mount and struck from the top, but ended up being swept by the local athlete and lost for the first time in his career in four fights.
