The most fanatical MMA fans were encouraged by the training done by Anderson Silva e Jon Jones at UFC headquarters in Las Vegas (USA). After all, the Brazilian, the biggest name in the history of the middleweight division, and the North American, the most dominant light heavyweight champion, were frequently speculated about in a superfight when both were champions. However, as far as Jones is concerned, that will never happen.
Jones stated that his admiration for Anderson is great to the point that this makes the idea of a fight between them an unusual sensation. “I would never want to fight Anderson. Never ever. I admire him so much. There aren't many people I look up to in my life, but look what he did. [Michael] Jordan, LeBron [James], Anderson, Kobe [Bryant], I consider them of the same species. Athletes of this caliber don't come around that often. I don't want to be the guy to beat him. Even though this has already happened, I didn't want to lose to him and I didn't want to beat him,” said the American.
Both Jones and Anderson have already made their next UFC commitments official. The North American faces Daniel Cormier at UFC 182, putting the light heavyweight belt at stake on January 3rd, while the Brazilian faces Nick Diaz at UFC 183, on the 31st of the same month.
