The Brazilian Lyoto Machida defends the UFC light heavyweight belt against another Brazilian Mauricio Shogun Rua at UFC-106, an event scheduled for October 24th, in Los Angeles. The fighters promoted the fight yesterday afternoon, during the show's press conference. In his statements, Lyoto showed a lot of respect for his opponent, but says he is prepared for the fight.
“I continue to train a lot,” said Lyoto. “It will be my first title defense and I hope to win. My opponent is very tough, an excellent person, very good on the feet and on the ground, but I can say one thing, I continue to do my homework”, said Lyoto.
Shogun also praised Machida's fighting style, but showed confidence in his Muai Thai for victory.
“Lyoto is a guy who likes striking, just like me”, said Shogun, “But our styles are different, as he likes to play more in the Karate counterattack. I'm from Muay Thai. This is a big motivation for me too, to show the efficiency of my Muay Thai”, concluded Shogun.
