The coaches for the fourth edition of The Ultimate Fighter Brasil (TUF) – the UFC's reality show in the country – have been defined. On Wednesday night (29), the organization announced that Anderson Silva e Mauricio Shogun will be the team commanders in the attraction in 2015. This will be the first time that the former UFC champions will be TUF coaches.
Anderson Silva, former middleweight champion (up to 84 kg.), was the most dominant belt holder in UFC history. After losing his reign to Chris Weidman, in 2013, he tries to get back on track for the belt, in January, against Nick Diaz. After the fight, he will dedicate himself exclusively to recording the program.
“I believe I can pass on to this new generation a little of what I experienced and still experience within the UFC. I will do my best so that martial values help in the training of these Brazilian athletes”, he stated Anderson Silva, in a statement to the event's official website.
In turn, Shogun revealed that commanding a TUF Brazil team was an old dream. The former light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg.) had already been approached to be a coach in the second edition of the program, in 2013, but ended up being passed over for the heavyweight division. At the end of the TUF season, the coaches usually face each other. However, as they are from different categories, it has not yet been confirmed that Shogun and Anderson Silva will measure forces.
UPDATE
Shortly after the announcement that Mauricio Shogun e Anderson Silva will be the coaches of TUF Brasil 4, UFC president Dana White took to Twitter to confirm that the coaches will not face each other at the end of the season. On the other hand, the director guaranteed the presence of both fighters on the card, but with different opponents.
