Highlight of UFC Vegas 87, Umar Nurmagomedov targets Merab Dvalishvili and teases: 'I don't see a threat in him'

One of the highlights of UFC Vegas 87, the Russian Umar Nurmagomedov is already targeting the elite of the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg). At the 'media day' of the event taking place this Saturday (02), Khabib's cousin revealed that he wants to face the possible challenger Merab Dvalishvili and said he saw no threat in the Georgian's game.

“Honestly, I can fight Merab on the ground and wherever he wants. I don't know why Javier (Mendez) sees him as such a threat. In striking he cannot say he has a high level. He is a person who simply has good physical coordination, is well prepared, has good resistance. For me, I don’t see any threat in him,” Umar said.

Number 13 in the bantamweight rankings, Umar is undefeated in professional MMA with 16 consecutive victories. Since 2021 in Ultimate, Nurmagomedov has beaten Sergey Morozov, brian kelleher, Nate Maness and the Brazilian Raoni barcelos, with three of these triumphs being the fast track. Next Saturday (02), at UFC Vegas 87, the Russian will face off against Kazakh newcomer Bekzat Almakhan.

The main fight of UFC Vegas 87 will be between heavyweights (up to 120,2kg) Jairzinho Rozenstruik, number 12 in the ranking and the undefeated Russian Shamil Gaziev, who is making only his second confrontation in Ultimate.
