A week after the confusion over his contractual situation with the UFC, the black belt Thales leites talked to the website SUPER FIGHTS and explained day-by-day what really happened when he left Ultimate.
“After the result, I was worried about knowing Dana White's opinion about who he thought had won the fight. At the press conference, a Canadian reporter asked him if I was in trouble with the UFC after the defeat and he said no.”
“The next day (Sunday) I saw that all the American sites like MMA Weekly and Sherdog gave me the victory. On Monday, Dede sent an email to Joe Silva asking what he thought of the fight, as everyone thought I had won. In response, Joe Silva said that the fight was bad and that regardless of whether he thought who won or lost, it was already stipulated by the event that whoever lost in the UFC-101 preliminary fights would be cut from the event and that he was dismissing me.”
“On Wednesday an interview with Dana White came out saying that me and another fighter (Tamdan McCrory) were being reinstated to the UFC roster, people started calling me to find out if it was true and I didn't know anything. At the end of the day, Joe Silva sent an email to Dede saying that this was not true and that Dana was wrong.”
After all the confusion, the Brazilian fired back at the event, stating that he does not understand the policy used to maintain athletes within the organization.
"Can not understand. They want guys who box with MMA gloves,” she concluded.
