Former PRIDE heavyweight champion, Rodrigo Minotauro is just a few days away from facing former UFC champion, Randy Couture, in a fight expected by MMA fans since the days of the now defunct Japanese event. Speaking to the Canadian agency TSA, Minota stated that he had intended to face “Captain America” since 2001.
“When I was hired by Pride I had a meeting with Dana White and he asked me: ‘Do you want to come to the UFC? Know that you will be very welcome’, it was like a friendly conversation before making the contracts and everything. I was just thinking about the fight against Randy Couture”, he said. “Once we were at a tournament in Japan (Rings, in 2001), he was in the same GP and I saw all his fights, I was prepared to fight against him, but that didn't happen”, said the Brazilian who analyzed how he expects the combat.
“It’s very exciting for me to fight him. I expect a good fight, I know he's a level fighter, with good wrestling and I have good jiu-titsu. Both can win, I think it will be a fight that people have been waiting for for many years”, concluded the Brazilian.
the duel between Rodrigo Minotauro and Randy Couture will be the main attraction at UFC-102, an event that takes place on August 29th, in Portland, in the United States.
