Márcio Tannure, UFC's official doctor in Brazil and who personally took care of Anderson Silva, praised the Brazilian fighter's quick recovery after the broken leg he suffered in the rematch against Chris Weidman, in December of last year.

At a press conference held in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Tannure explained that “Spider’s” improvement occurred over a much shorter period of time than normally occurs in this type of injury, even though the fracture itself was not the only problem. faced by the athlete.

“It’s a fracture that can take three months to a year to heal. We always give an extra deadline, so we told him that so that, if it took a little longer, he wouldn't be discouraged. But he surprised us all. The recovery was much faster than expected. But we can't just look at the disease, but the patient. It's not just the consolidation of the fracture: the fracture healed very quickly, but I think this caused a muscular imbalance and several other things that have been worked on during this period. But the recovery was well above average”, highlighted Tannure.

The doctor clarified that Anderson's injury was indeed serious, which required that the care taken also took into account the former champion's psychological side. “The biggest concern with this type of fracture is that you could have a vascular injury or a nerve injury. He didn't have it, but if he had, it would be a very serious injury. So, his injury was serious, really. He was operated on by the UFC doctor, a trauma specialist, and I tried to reassure Anderson about that.”
