When the North American channel FOX announced its team of narrators for the current NFL (American Football League) season, the big surprise came from Mike Goldberg, who has been in charge of UFC broadcasts alongside Joe for over a decade. Rogan. However, Goldberg's debut in the most popular sport in the United States on national open TV, which took place last Sunday (12) during the match between the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings, can only be defined in one word: catastrophic.

In the first play of the match, the narrator was already confused about the positioning of the ball. The sequence of errors was long, and included incorrect pronunciations of the names of athletes and coaches, new mistakes in the field positioning of the ball and also in the number of decisions, and even the error in mentioning the place where the game was held. Among the most striking gaffes, the moment in which Goldberg confused the wide receivers Greg Jennings and Golden Tate, for using the same numbers on their respective teams, demonstrating that they do not even visually know each team's reception leaders.

In times of internet and feedback instantaneous, it is clear that the series of screw-ups did not go unpunished. And the content of the comments on social media was not very positive. While some fans opted for humor to satirize Mike Goldberg's performance in his debut at the NFL microphones, others were harsher and even classified his performance as “the worst narration ever seen in the history of this sport”.

The comments, of course, didn't leave Goldberg happy, but his reaction was as disastrous as the narration itself. In a fit of rage, the narrator addressed some fans at the Twitter, calling them “idiots” or swearing at them and even, in a threatening tone, telling one of them “not to waste your time anymore”. As you can imagine, the response was not well received and made the situation even worse.

This Tuesday (15), visibly calmer, Mike Goldberg once again used his profile on Twitter, but this time to apologize for what happened. “I just want to apologize to everyone at FOX and everyone else for my momentary lapse due to Sunday's broadcast. I let some bad guys bother me and I should have been 'coarse' instead of reacting so quickly and emotionally. I didn't want to be a distraction for the upcoming Sunday broadcast, so we came to a mutual agreement that it would be best to sit it out this time. I'm not happy about it personally, but professionally, I know it's the right thing to do after my mistake. Thank you to FOX and everyone else for your understanding”, he said.

As reported by Mike Goldberg himself on the microblogging network, he is out of the broadcast of the game between Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings, next Sunday (18). To replace him, FOX called on veteran Tim Brando, who will be accompanied by commentator Brendon Ayanbadejo and reporter Peter Schrager, the same team as Goldberg in his debut. The confusion in the NFL, however, has absolutely no effect on the narrator's work in Ultimate and, until further notice, he is confirmed in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) for the broadcast of UFC 179, on October 25th.
