Excited about his return, UFC owner guarantees: 'I've never seen Anderson Silva so motivated'

Lorenzo Fertitta spoke about Spider's return to the octagon in a video released by the organization and shown before the fighter's press conference

This Tuesday (14), the return of Anderson Silva The Octagon gained an official character with the press conference with the fighter promoted by Ultimate in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Before the event began, however, the organization broadcast a video, also available on its channel on YouTube, in which Lorenzo Fertitta, one of the company's owners, commented on the former champion's return. Quite excited, the UFC CEO assured that he had never seen Spider as motivated as he is today.

“I have to say that I have never seen Anderson so motivated. He is in a great mood, he was smiling in every meeting we had. He's very excited for this fight on January 30th (at UFC 183, his return to the Octagon). We are waiting for the old man Anderson Silva come back, and we think it’s going to be very exciting,” said Fertitta.

Furthermore, the director also reinforced what was said by Anderson himself recently and assured that the Brazilian will return to try to regain the middleweight belt. “Essentially, what Anderson said to me is that he doesn't just want to get back into the Octagon just to get back into the UFC, but that it's his goal to get his belt back. He feels that the belt he Chris Weidman It’s yours, he held it for almost a decade, he wants it back,” he revealed.

Finally, Fertitta spoke about the fight that will mark Anderson's return, against the American Nick Diaz. Despite all the excitement with the Brazilian, Lorenzo also praised his rival and his abilities as a fighter. “His first fight is interesting, he will face Nick Diaz, who is a very well respected fighter. It presents some interesting challenges for Anderson,” he assessed.

At 39, Anderson Silva has a professional record of 33 wins and six losses. The Brazilian has not stepped into the octagon since December 28th, when he was defeated for the second time by Chris Weidman in the middleweight title fight and fractured his left leg.
