Former lightweight champion provokes Islam Makhachev and criticizes UFC ranking

Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos said he doesn't understand the fact that the belt holder is number one in the weight-for-pound rankings and compared the Russian's trajectory to that of the legend Jon Jones

A constant target of criticism and complaints, the UFC ranking was once again questioned. Former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), the Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos said he didn't understand the fact that Islam makhachev, current owner of the belt, is number one pound for pound and compared the Russian with the MMA legend Jon Jones.

"Jon Jones: 13 belt defenses, champion in two categories, undefeated and second place in the weight-for-weight ranking. Islam makhachev: two title defenses against Volkanovski (featherweight champion), one defeat by knockout and number one in the weight-for-weight ranking. Please, someone give me a good reason to take whoever makes this ranking seriously,” wrote Dos Anjos.

One of the oldest athletes on the Ultimate roster, Dos Anjos was lightweight champion between 2015 and 2016. In around 15 years in the company, RDA won 21 victories and suffered 13 defeats. In his record, the Brazilian fighter has already beaten names like Anthony Pettis, Donald Cerrone, Ben henderson, Nate diaz e Robbie Lawler.
