In the recovery phase after wasting the opportunity to become welterweight champion (up to 77,1kg.) in the UFC, Colby covington experienced an embarrassing moment during the holidays. Present at the Miami Heat basketball arena, located in Miami, Florida (USA), the athlete was 'expelled' by a fan of his great enemy Jorge masvidal. The boy who addressed the fighter stated that the city belonged to ‘Jesus das Ruas’.
“Hey, this is Jorge’s city! This is Jorge's city. Do something! City of Jorge. I don’t even know who you are”, exclaimed the man present in the arena.
Accompanied by security, Colby avoided getting too close and waved his middle finger at the man who was offending him.

Former friends and training partners, Covington and Masvidal created a historic rivalry after disagreements in the gym. In 2022 the athletes faced each other in the UFC 272 and ‘Jesus das Ruas’ ended up being overcome after having no response to his opponent’s grappling attacks.
Months after the confrontation, the fighters still had a violent encounter in the street and Covington was hit by a punch thrown by Masvidal, resulting in the breaking of one of his teeth. At the time, Jorge was taken by the local police and later released by the authorities.
