“Crowdfunding”, or collective financing, is a very common way of raising money for projects through donations or investments on the internet. Used to fund artistic productions, shows and spectacles, among other purposes, the financing has just gained an unusual action in MMA. The American fighter Nina ansaroff started a campaign to raise funds to pay for one of its coaches to come to UFC Uberlândia, in November.
At the event held in Triângulo Mineiro, Ansaroff will face Brazilian Ju Thai, in a fight valid for the women's strawweight category. Among the expenses covered by the organization are travel and accommodation for the fighter herself and one of her coaches. With this, through the specialized website “GoFundMe”, the North American asks for the help of her fans to raise US$5 (around R$12) and pay for the arrival of her other corner and pay for some of the required medical exams . In six days of campaigning, Nina raised the equivalent of US$1.145 (approximately R$2,7), almost 25% of the total amount.
UFC Fight Night 56, or UFC Uberlândia, takes place on November 8th at Ginásio do Sabiazinho. In the main fight of the night, the former light heavyweight champion Mauritius Shogun faces Nigerian-British Jimi Manuwa.
