Former UFC fighter, North American Cody McKenzie combined the useful with the pleasant and secured himself in the weight limit by doing a good deed. Just under a kilo above the maximum allowed to perform in the “Battlegrounds MMA” tournament, McKenzie decided to donate blood to fit into the 77,6kg category and confirm his presence on the card in Tulsa (USA).
According to the North American website “MMA Fighting”, Cody McKenzie removed 0,47 liters of blood to be donated and weighed 77,4 kg. This is not the first time that the fighter has drawn attention for an unusual stance during an event. Last year, during UFC on FOX 9, McKenzie forgot his shorts at the hotel and acted against Sam stout with plain shorts, without their sponsors, bought hastily in a store located in front of the gym that hosted the card in San Jose (USA).
At 26 years old, Cody McKenzie has a professional record of 15 wins and four losses. Participant of the 12th season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter, the “AK Kid”, as he is known, was eliminated by Nam Phan in the quarterfinals of the program’s tournament. In seven fights in Ultimate, McKenzie had three wins and four losses – the last of which, which defined his departure from the organization, occurred precisely to Sam stout.
