UFC 178 highlights, Cruz and McGregor soar in the official UFC rankings

Former champion rises to second place among bantamweights, while Irishman is fifth among featherweights

With a card full of stars and important fights, UFC 178 caused changes in the organization's official rankings. Two of the highlights of the attraction, Dominick Cruz e Conor McGregor they gained many positions in their categories according to this Monday's update (29).

The former UFC bantamweight champion, who defeated Takeya Mizugaki last Saturday, gained eight positions and now occupies second place in the category, just behind Renan Barao, which follows as the first. The impressive performance also placed the “Dominator” on the pound-for-pound list at 15th.

Conor McGregor gained four positions among the featherweights with the quick knockout over Dustin poirier. The Irishman is now fifth in the division, leaving behind Chan sung jung, Poirier himself, Dennis Bermudez e Nik lentz.

Among the midfielders, Yoel romero moved up four places with his victory over Tim Kennedy, who, in turn, fell to fifth. Already Amanda nunes, defeated by Zingano cat, lost her position as the best Brazilian in the female bantamweight division when she fell to ninth, being overtaken by Bethe Correia.

Lastly, Demetrious Johnson, who successfully defended the UFC flyweight belt for the fifth time against Chris Cariaso, gained a spot on the pound-for-pound list, leaving heavyweight champion, Cain Velazquez, which fell to fourth.
