José Aldo had a small setback during his training for the fight he will do against Chad Mendes at UFC 179, which will take place on October 25th, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The UFC featherweight champion was hospitalized last Friday, the 19th, to have a kidney stone removed, also known as a kidney stone.
Aldo spent the night in Hospital Samaritano, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, but the next day, he was released and resumed his training. In an interview with the “Combate” channel website, Aldo's trainer, Dedé Pederneiras, explained that the problem is not related to the weight cut for the fight.
“Aldo has had a kidney stone problem since he was 16 years old. After the fight against theKorean zombie'(Chan sung jung, at UFC 163, in August last year), he also expelled a stone. And last week it was the same thing. He started with a little pain, was hospitalized, took serum and anti-inflammatories, and passed the stone”, explained Pederneiras.
