Wanderlei Silva spoke out for the first time after the news of his lifetime ban from the Nevada Athletic Commission, this Tuesday (23). The Brazilian, who recently announced his retirement from MMA, thanked his fans for their support, but assured that the “war” is only just beginning.
No announcement of his retirement from fighting, Wanderlei protested against the current UFC policy, which he accuses of “giving crumbs and lacking respect for athletes”. The former PRIDE champion followed the same line in a post on Twitter.
“Thanks, friends, for everything. The power is yours and you give it to whoever you want. Thank you so much for everything! And for those of you who want to take me down, come on. The war is just beginning, you f**kers! You'll see that we're the ones in charge of this shit! Bunch of fops”, wrote the Curitiba native.
In addition to no longer being able to fight under the NSAC's umbrella, Wanderlei also received a US$70 fine. The reason for the punishments was the fact that Wand refused to take a surprise drug test in May.
