Even coming off two defeats in his last three fights in the UFC, Francisco Massaranduba dismissed the pressure just a few days before his fight against Leandro Buscapé at UFC Fight Night 51, which will be held in Brasília (DF) this Saturday, September 13th.
The fighter, born in Piauí, but based in the federal capital, guaranteed that his training was strong enough to avoid any type of surprise in the fight, which will be his eighth for Ultimate. “He can come whatever way he may, I’m prepared”, he assured massaranduba, in an interview with the reporter from SUPER FIGHTS Lucas Carrano.
massaranduba trusts that, this time, he will be able to impose his game, unlike what happened in his last performance, in May, when he lost to Michael chiesa at UFC 173. “I'm very confident of victory. In the last few fights, I couldn't fight. O Michael chiesa managed to keep his pace and, this time, it will be totally different. I'm going to set my pace, go for it, I'm going to throw the first punch. I'm going back to the origins. I train like hell, I like training, I like fighting, so why should I be nervous? For me, this will be a very strong training session, and I will come away with victory, God willing”, said the fighter.
The former member of TUF Brasil 1 highlighted his emotions in performing at the first UFC event in Brasília, the city where some of his family members live. “My parents live in Piauí, but my brothers all live in Brasília. This is where it all started, where I breathed the fight, when I came from the Northeast and discovered the fight. For me, it will be exciting to fight in Brasília. I want to tell the public that I will not disappoint any of my partners, anyone. I'm going to put on a good fight and do everything I can to knock him out or submit him. It doesn't matter if it's a knockout or a submission, I'm going to win this fight. It will be very difficult for Buscapé to beat me”, said the fighter.
