At the end of last year, GSP relinquished the UFC welterweight belt to take a break from his career as a professional fighter. Since then, several rumors have been circulating about what the Canadian's future will be – that is, whether he will return to active duty or whether his retirement will in fact be permanent.

In an interview with the UFC website, Dana White said that the Canadian could try to regain the belt he gave up. “It would be difficult to accept that GSP would return and not fight for the belt. GSP can do whatever he wants. If he wants to come back and fight for the title, or have a fight before that, he can do whatever he wants”, guaranteed the manager.

GSP's head coach, Firas Zahabi, revealed that the athlete will return to MMA training next month, although it will still be in moderate form.
