Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin will be out of the Octagon until June 2008 due to a knee injury. Because of this, he is out of the fight with Travis Lutter, which he would have at UFC 82. According to the athlete's manager, Monte Cox, Franklin will undergo corrective surgery. This is the second time Franklin has had this same type of injury.
In addition to being one of the best middleweights in the world, Franklin would have the chance to perform in Cincinatti, his hometown, where UFC 82 will take place. According to JT Stewart, the doctor who examined the athlete reported that the meniscus torsion, injury that Franklin had suffered before, caused inflammation.
