RJ x SP Challenge: Bonfim bets on Rio’s victory

The Rio x São Paulo Jiu-Jitsu Challenge takes place in August, in Rio de Janeiro, with teams formed by FJJD-Rio and WLPJJ. Representative of the Rio team in the middleweight division, black belt Victor Bonfim is already preparing for the dispute. Confident, Bonfim does not deny the rivalry between the states and bets on the victory of the Rio teams.

“We will definitely win. Jiu-Jitsu arrived here first and it was only a few years ago that they started to appear more. Rio and I will definitely win,” he said.

Regarding the opportunity to defend the state on the mats, the black belt is excited. To put it nicely, training is already on fire.

“This different type of competition is really cool and for me it will be really cool to compete in this challenge. The preparation is already strong, because I come from victories at FJJD-Rio and training for the Rio Open. The rhythm is good. I don’t know my opponent, but I’m going to prepare a lot, because it will be a great event”, concluded the Gordo JJ representative.

The Rio x São Paulo Challenge will feature competitions in the black, brown, purple and blue belts for adult men, adult women and master black belts. The event will take place simultaneously with the third stage of the FJJD-Rio State Ranking, on August 8th and 9th. The Challenge will be on Saturday (8) to give a chance to athletes who also want to participate in the ranking, which will have the categories up for grabs on Sunday (9).
