Angry with Renan Barão, UFC does not pay the Brazilian a salary: 'He will return without a penny'

The Brazilian Renan Barao had a weekend to forget. After collapsing a few hours before the official weigh-in for UFC 177, during the final weight-cutting process, the fighter saw his chance of avenging the defeat suffered to him fall apart. TJ Dillashaw and regain the bantamweight belt. Furthermore, the native of Rio Grande do Norte will not receive any remuneration from the UFC for not showing up to fight last Saturday (30).

Despite the Brazilian taking part in all of the event's promotional activities, the franchise's president, Dana White, did not hide his irritation at Renan's forced departure from the main fight of UFC 177.

“Barão will receive nothing. I'm not going to pay him for not showing up to fight. There is no excuse for what he did. There is no excuse for not making weight”, said White, who also assured that the former bantamweight champion will suffer a financial loss for not having fought in front of TJ Dillashaw.

“He will pay dearly. He harmed us. That guy didn't get his check and he's going home with no money. You'll come back without a penny. He just paid for preparation for the fight, and no one knows when he will fight again”, added the director.
