The tense atmosphere between José Aldo e Chad Mendes during a promotional event at Maracanã, which even included a push from the Brazilian onto his opponent, seems to have affected the expectations of Brazilian fans for UFC Rio 5. This Wednesday (27), ticket sales for the event and the bleachers sector, the cheapest available to the public, sold out in just three hours, according to an official note from the organization itself.
The result goes back, even if only in a specific sector, to the scenario of the first editions of Ultimate in Brazil, when the ticket load was quickly sold out by fans and demand exceeded the supply of tickets. In the most recent editions, however, many arenas have not reached their maximum capacity and tickets are available until the day of the event.
With the end of entrances to the stands, there are still six other sectors available for purchase: Chair C (R$ 290,00), Chair B (R$ 650,00), Chair A (R$ 950,00), Premium Chair (R$ 1.200,00), Octagon Premium (R$ 1.600,00) and People with Special Needs (R$ 95,00). All tickets, except those for people with special needs, can be purchased by half-price beneficiaries, with a 50% discount. Sales are made via the website Tickets for Fun, at the telephone exchange or at accredited sales outlets.
UFC 179, or UFC Rio 5, takes place on October 25th, at Ginásio do Maracanãzinho, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). In the main fight of the night, José Aldo puts the featherweight belt on the line in his rematch against Chad Mendes. Aldo and Mendes faced each other for the first time in the second edition of UFC Rio, in January 2012, with the Brazilian winning by knockout in the first round. In the evening's co-main event, former light heavyweight title challenger Glover Teixeira faces the North American Glover Teixeira.
