The first hand-to-hand contact between José Aldo e Chad Mendes, during a UFC Rio 5 promotional event this Tuesday (26), almost became a preview of the event. During a confrontation, the fighters put their noses together and the Brazilian pushed his rival, only to be restrained by security guards shortly afterwards. After the incident at Maracanã, Mendes commented on the episode and said he was eager to share the octagon again with his rival in October.

“Shit caught fire today. I can’t wait to punch this guy right in the mouth,” the American wrote on his official Facebook profile. Instagram.

Earlier, still during the promotional event, Chad Mendes he had already spoken about how he considered his rival's act a personal victory. “He was never aggressive towards any other fighter, he never put his face on anyone, you saw how it was today. I'm already winning this battle. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing, I have the path to defeat him. In my head, it’s one to zero for me,” he commented to the journalists present.

The challenger also said that there really is no sympathy between Aldo and him and complained a lot about the accusations made by the Brazilian, who questioned the “supplements” taken by his rival. “He doesn’t like me and I don’t like this guy. It's just like that, it's part of the sport sometimes. But for him to publicly say the things he said, I think it's very rude and unnecessary and there's no evidence for any of it. I don't know where he got these things from, but what I said was that he gets injured a lot. This is something proven, it is not false at all. It happens all the time,” he concluded.
