UFC negotiates fight between Lyoto Machida and Luke Rockhold

Brazilian would participate in the meeting at the Nevada Athletic Commission this Thursday (21); new date for the meeting has not been announced

around Lyoto Machida to the Octagon after his defeat in the middleweight title fight against Chris Weidman may be against another member of the top 5 of the division. It was reported in this Wednesday's edition (20) of the newspaper “UFC Tonight” that the organization has plans for a fight between the Brazilian and the former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold. The information was endorsed by Daniel Cormier, one of the presenters of the program and Rockhold's training partner at the AKA gym.

"Luke Rockhold x Lyoto Machida, this fight is being discussed. Both guys want the fight. We know that Lyoto asked for her earlier. Luke is very open to this fight. The fight is being discussed internally”, revealed Cormier in an interview with the website “MMA Junkie”, without mentioning, however, a possible date and location for the duel.

At 29, Luke Rockhold has a record of 12 wins and two losses. The American is coming off two consecutive victories, over Costas Philippou and Tim Boetsch. Already Lyoto Machida, 36 years old, has a record of 21 wins and five losses. Since moving down to middleweight, the former light heavyweight champion has won two victories and suffered a setback in the new division.
