Recently, UFC heavyweight alistair overeem He became involved in controversies with some of his training companions. After allegedly having Guto Inocente injured when representing the Blackzilians academy, the Dutchman was involved in the training that resulted in the injury of the light heavyweight champion from the UFC, Jon Jones. And yet another controversial case became public, through Andrei Arlovski.
Overeem's teammate at Jackson's MMA, the Belarusian revealed that he also recently had a hard time with the Dutchman during training, which, according to him, threatened to result in the cancellation of his fight against Antonio Pezão at UFC Fight Night 51, in Brasilia. “A few days ago, I did sparring with Overeem and saw it with my own eyes. Normally training partners don't try to do real damage to each other, but Overeem kneed me really hard in the stomach. In a real fight, I could have been knocked out with that”, revealed Arlovski, in an interview with the Russian website “Sport.Ru”.
“I rushed to the hospital to make sure my ribs weren’t broken. Thank God everything was fine, although, initially, my coach and I were afraid that the fight with Pezão would have to be cancelled. It was something so unexpected and dirty that I wanted to get revenge, even if I only elbowed him. But my trainer was nearby and calmed me down. Now I know that Overeem injured Jones simply because he hurts everyone he trains with,” continued the Belarusian, UFC heavyweight champion last decade.
