With five wins in seven fights in Ultimate, Brazilian John Lineker positioned himself among the main names in the still new flyweight category. Benefited from the scarcity of challengers to the dominant champion Demetrious Johnson, added to his good record, the Santa Catarina native could be very close to competing for the belt in the 57 kg division. The UFC organization is planning an elimination fight between Lineker and American Ian McCall for the number one title challenger position.

The information was released by journalist Ariel Helwani during “UFC Tonight”, the official Ultimate newspaper on North American TV, on Wednesday night (06). According to the report, both athletes had already been informed of the organization's intention and were in favor of holding the fight. Currently, Lineker occupies seventh place in the official flyweight rankings, while McCall is in third place.
