Finally, the soap opera is over. After months of uncertainty, Nick Diaz reached an agreement with the UFC and signed a contract extension with the organization, guaranteeing at least three more fights in the Octagon.

Without fighting since March 2013, when he lost to Georges St Pierre in a fight valid for the welterweight belt, Diaz believes that the best date for his return would be in 2015. “I think it would be next year, but it doesn't matter. I could fight tomorrow, tonight”, said the fighter to the UFC’s official website.

Despite the downtime, Diaz guarantees that he will be in good physical shape. “I've been keeping fit by running a lot. People act like I'm doing nothing. I was sorting out some things. Just because I'm not taking punches every day doesn't mean I'm not focused on what I'm doing,” she clarified.

Anderson Silva's preference for the Brazilian's return to the Octagon, Diaz did not rule out the fight, but clarified that his main interest is fighting for the title. “I would be interested in fighting with Anderson Silva. I think it would be a great fight for people to watch because he has my kind of style. [But] I would like to fight for the title. I think it would be something big and worth it. I want fights that bring me close to fighting for the title. Whoever is in the way, this is the person I will fight,” he stated.
