It barely had time to be announced and the fight between Jon Jones e Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight belt is already generating controversy. Through your official profile on Twitter, Cormier released a provocative private message sent to him by Jones. Unable to respond to DM (direct message) of the champion, DC asked his followers for help in publicizing his response.

“Guys, please make sure this message reaches the Jon Jones. He doesn't follow me. I didn't know I followed him too. This guy is a ninja (for being able to send me this)”, published Cormier, along with a reproduction of his cell phone screen on which his reply appears: “I'm ready! I'll end with you".

Later, during his appearance on the official newspaper “UFC Tonight”, the challenger spoke again about the challenge to Jones at UFC 178 and revealed that he did not believe that the provocations could have a significant effect on his rival. “He’s prepared for anything I say. There was that whole situation with the Rashad evans and he still managed to enter the octagon and face him. Other than that, he has already fought against Chael Sonnen. Nothing I say will affect him mentally,” she assessed.

Finally, Cormier revealed the timing of the invitation to replace the injured player Alexander Gustafson at the event and seemed calm with the reduced preparation time for the duel. “I received a text message this morning from Lorenzo Fertitta. Something inside me was telling me to step on the scale, because I ate about six donuts yesterday (laughs). So I got on the scale and looked at my cell phone, then I saw Lorenzo's message offering me the title fight. I spoke to all my coaches and they supported me. We have five weeks to prepare and that is enough time,” said DC. “There will always be some hesitation. When you have a title fight, you expect to have three months to prepare. But if my coaches tell me I have to hit the Jon Jones In five weeks, what am I going to do?”, he added.
