André Galvão was imported from Brazil by Wanderlei Silva to help you with your Jiu-Jitsu training in the USA. Galvão is one of the most successful athletes in the sport and is famous for having a game in which he always seeks submissions. A born competitor, according to his friends.
“I fight wherever, whenever, I was made for this”, said Galvão to Portal do Vale Tudo, “I train for this and I believe that no one has ever trained as much as I have. Only those who are by my side know how dedicated I am to this.”
The invitation to go to the USA to train Wanderlei was accepted immediately, and he has been doing a great job.
“Wanderlei told me that he always liked watching my fights and that he would like to see me alongside him”, he explained, “Now this opportunity arose and he called me. I didn't think twice and went. He is a 100% guy and always willing to help.”
Galvão lives with Wanderlei in Las Vegas and trains every day with the former Pride champion, with an eye on his preparation for the fight against Chuck Liddell, at UFC 79, next Saturday. He was impressed by the willingness and dedication shown by the fighter in his training.
“We train every day”, he said, “Wanderlei is a guy who likes to learn, a dedicated guy, who follows the entire training guide. We play the game based on the opponent’s deficiencies, we go after Chuck.”
The evolution of Wanderlei's ground game, who is also a Jiu-Jitsu black belt, has been seen with excitement by Galvão.
“He is feeling much better on the ground, he can tell you that himself. I'm seeing him evolve a lot”, he analyzed, “Wanderlei will show better and better Jiu-Jitsu from now on. If this fight goes to the ground, you will see Wanderlei taking up some positions.”
The invitation received from Wanderlei to train him in the USA made Galvão even more eager to dedicate himself and, soon, debut in the vale tudo ring. “Soon you will see me fighting anything goes”, he assured, “I am training a lot with Wanderlei, I train a lot of Boxing too and I want to be a complete fighter”.
