Claudia Gadelha will take part in a historic moment in the UFC this Wednesday (16). The Brazilian fighter will face Tina Lahdemaki in her first fight in the strawweight category (up to 52 kg) within Ultimate, at the UFC Fight Night 45 event, which will be held in the city of Atlantic City, in New Jersey (USA).
However, Gadelha wants to go further and also make history with her performance inside the octagon. The athlete from the Nova União academy hopes to soon be able to compete for the title of the new category. “I think about recording my name in the UFC, but it has to be step by step. I first want to debut with victory, showing all my game and then think about higher flights. It's a new, different category for me, as I had to lose a lot of weight, but it didn't affect me much. I'm calm and I want to have the opportunity to fight for a belt. I’m just getting started”, commented the fighter.
Regarding the fight against the Finnish fighter, the fighter from Rio Grande do Norte was confident. “It will be a tough fight, but I'm calm for this debut. I followed some of Tina's fights and saw that she is good at defending takedowns, and I believe that I am completely capable of winning,” she said.
The fight between Claudia Gadelha and Tina Lahdemaki will open the activities of UFC Fight Night 45, which will be led by the duel between lightweights Jim Miller e Donald Cerrone. Both Gadelha and Lahdemaki are undefeated in MMA: the Brazilian has 11 wins, compared to five for her opponent.
