Former MMA fighter who starred in Harry Potter films is found dead in the USA

Former MMA fighter Dave Legeno was found dead last Sunday (6), in the Monjave Desert, in the US state of California. The news was only confirmed this Friday by Legeno's manager to the English newspaper “Daily Mirror”.

The Englishman, who was 50 years old, had seven professional fights between 2005 and 2007, all of them at the now defunct British Cage Rage event. Despite the short period in which he remained active, Legeno faced well-known names such as Ikuhisa Minowa, Kimo Leopoldo and Dan Severn, and his last performance was in a technical knockout victory over Herb Dean, best known for his role as a referee in some of the most important fights in the UFC today.

Parallel to his fighting career, Legeno also worked as an actor, including making small appearances in feature films such as “Batman Begins” and “Harry Potter”, where he played the werewolf Fenrir Greyback in three films.

The Englishman was hiking through the desert and was found in the depression known as Death Valley. As the body showed no signs of violence, it is believed that the death was caused by the strong heat of the region, as temperatures can reach 50º C during the day. He leaves behind a 20-year-old daughter who lives in England.
