For the third time, history repeated itself in the octagon and Frankie Edgar defeated the veteran again B.J. Penn. In the grand final of The Ultimate Fighter 19 (TUF 19), held this Sunday (06), in Las Vegas, the edition's technicians closed the trilogy again with an advantage for Edgar who won by technical knockout in the third round. The result marked the announcement of BJ's retirement for the third time.
Without fighting for two years, B.J. Penn showed that he felt his return to the octagon. Edgar took advantage of the apathy and used his traditional movement to land the best strikes in his striking, mixing it with takedown entries.
After domination in the first two rounds, the end came in the third round. After taking down BJ, Frankie threw several blows from above in the ground fight until the referee stopped the fight.
Brazilian loses TUF final
In the TUF finals, quick fights. The Brazilian Dhiego Lima he was unable to overcome Eddie Gordon and was knocked out at 1min:11sec of the first round in the middleweight decision.
As soon as the fight started, Gordon closed the distance and made use of his greater physical strength. He unleashed a series of punches that seriously hurt Dhiego. The Brazilian athlete ended up on the ground, where he suffered several new attacks until the referee stopped him.
As a result, the featherweight Diego Brandao remains the only Brazilian to win the UFC reality show in the United States.
In the decision between light heavyweights, the end was also quick. Corey anderson he started with everything and needed just 61 seconds to corner Matt Van Buren, land an arsenal of blows and win by technical knockout.
