Bitetti Combat: MMA in style in Rio de Janeiro

An article published this Sunday (June 14), in Jornal do Brasil, already tells us what’s coming. Rio de Janeiro will host some of the world's top MMA fighters on September 12th, when another edition of Bitetti Combat takes place, an event organized by jiu-jitsu black belt Amaury Bitetti.

With support from the federal government, the state government, the city hall and the Rio-2016 Committee, Bitetti Combat is scheduled to take place in Maracanazinho. The gym, located in the Maracanã complex, has a capacity for 11.800 people and has been completely renovated. In addition to hosting major sporting events, Maracanazinho has hosted epic MMA fights, such as the fight between Rickson Gracie and Rei Zulu, among many others.

But, in addition to a structure that meets international standards, the event should announce big stars, names that have already shone in the UFC and other major organizations in the sport. However, the card will only be released on the 22nd, when the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Sérgio Cabral, will receive the athletes at Palácio das Laranjeiras to make the fights official.

The JB article also comments on the project that Bitetti runs in needy communities in Rio de Janeiro, Luta pela Pacificação, also with government support.
