Antonio Pezão will have a full agenda in the coming months. The Paraíba native, who intends to return to the UFC octagon in September, will have to undergo surgery to remove a tumor that has reappeared in his skull.

The scenario is a consequence of the disease suffered by Pezão, acromegaly, which affects the production of secretions by the pituitary gland. In an interview with the podcast “The MMA Hour”, Pezão stated that the procedure will be necessary as he will not be able to use testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).

“Right after my fight I'll have to do it again and, after a month, I'll be able to start training again. But I will have to make this correction since I cannot use testosterone”, commented the Brazilian fighter.

Pezão used TRT only once in his career, precisely in his last fight, against Mark Hunt. After the fight against the New Zealander, Pezão had a testosterone level above that allowed in the anti-doping test. Therefore, it is suspended until September 7th.
