Weidman, on third fight with Anderson: 'If the fans want it, so be it'

Middleweight champion does not rule out trilogy with Brazilian and expresses his admiration for Spider

Current UFC middleweight champion, Chris Weidman He is the only athlete in the world of MMA who can say he defeated him twice Anderson Silva, one of the great names in the history of the sport. However, the North American does not rule out the possibility of facing the Brazilian fighter on a third opportunity.

In a chat with fans promoted by the North American broadcaster “ESPN”, Weidman was asked if he would agree to make a trilogy against Anderson Silva. “I won by knockout the first time  and I really wasn’t happy with the way it ended the second time. But fate wanted it to happen this way, there's nothing you can do. He [Anderson] would now have to win a few fights before he can face me again. But if this is the fight the fans want, then so be it”, declared the division champion.

Even leaving open the possibility of fighting Anderson again, Weidman expressed his admiration for the Brazilian fighter. “Anderson’s career has been a huge motivational factor for me, ever since the first MMA training I did in my life,” he commented.

Weidman is preparing to make his second UFC belt defense next week, on July 5th. In the main fight of UFC 175, in Las Vegas (USA), the champion faces Lyoto Machida.
