In the devastating defeat of Dan Henderson for Daniel Cormier At UFC 173 there was a perception among fans and the specialized media that the veteran no longer fit into the light heavyweight category. In the fight, in addition to being dominated by his rival, Hendo performed well below the weight limit, which increased the volume of speculation that he was close to leaving the division. This Tuesday (24), expectations were confirmed and the fighter announced his return to middleweight, a category he had abandoned in 2010.

The announcement about the change of division of Dan Henderson was made by his Muay Thai coach Daniel Woirin, in an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website. Woirin also revealed that the athlete is looking to return to fighting at the end of the year. On May 24th, before the fight against Cormier, Henderson weighed three kilos less than the 93 kg limit for the light heavyweight category, which took a heavy toll on his performance in the fight. One of the main causes cited for the decline in the North American's physical performance was the sudden end of authorizations for the use of Testosterone Replacement Treatment (TRT), which he underwent.
