UFC president, Dana White, has expressed his gratitude several times to the members of the first season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter, which he considers to have been fundamental in boosting the popularity of MMA in the United States. However, the North American director suggested that he should soon make the tributes to the cast something formal.
In an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”, White indicated that there is a great chance of all 16 fighters from that season becoming part of the UFC Hall of Fame. “I think this is a duty. All fighters from that season should be nominated. Without a doubt, it is a group of people who changed the face of the game”, said the UFC president. “All members must be nominated. Even Canadian Jason Thacker,” he continued, referring to the fighter who left the show without even fighting.

The first season of TUF in the United States aired in early 2005. The show's light heavyweight final, between Forrest griffin e Stephan bonnar, is considered by many to be one of the most important fights in the history of the UFC, as it drew great attention from the public when it was broadcast live on North American cable TV. Precisely for this reason, Bonnar and Griffin have already been nominated to join the Hall of Fame. The program, which crowned Griffin and Diego Sanchez, also revealed names like Kenny Florian, Josh koscheck, Chris Leben, Mike Swick and Nate Quarry.
The UFC is expected to announce the next members of the Hall of Fame at the UFC Fan Expo to be held on the first weekend of July, in Las Vegas.
