The New Mexico Athletic Commission decided to maintain the result of the fight between Diego Sanchez and Ross Pearson, which took place on June 8, in Albuquerque (USA).

The fight, which was the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 42, caused controversy in the MMA community. In statistics, Pearson had a wide advantage over Sanchez in the three rounds played. In the total number of significant blows connected, he won 51 to 33 (with 41% success, against 24% from Sanchez), and, in the second round, he applied a knockdown on your opponent. However, only one judge saw his victory in the fight, giving him 30-27. The other two scored in favor of Sanchez, with 29-28 and a surprising 30-27.

This made Pearson file an appeal to review the result. However, the New Mexico Commission announced that it did not accept the Englishman's protest, maintaining Sanchez's victory in the decision.

Despite this, UFC president Dana White stated that Pearson will be considered the true winner by the organization, having even received a cash bonus for winning.

Jason High gets hooked for a year for pushing referee

Another decision by the New Mexico Commission regarding UFC Fight Night 42 was the one-year suspension given to fighter Jason High. After being knocked out by Rafael dos Anjos, the American pushed referee Kevin Mulhall for disagreeing with stopping the fight. With that, High was fired from UFC and should be out of activity until June 2015.
