Almost six months after fracturing his left leg in the rematch against Chris Weidman at UFC 168, Anderson Silva continues his recovery at an intense pace. After physiotherapy sessions, boxing and jiu-jitsu training and bodybuilding activity, the former middleweight champion is now cleared to do his first sparring of MMA since the injury. For the Twitter, Spider celebrated the news.

“Hey guys, some good news: Today (Friday, June 20) is my first sparring MMA fighter after breaking his leg. Dr. Márcio Tannure (orthopedic doctor linked to the UFC and also responsible for the medical direction of the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission) released it,” Spider published on his official profile on the microblogging network.

At 39, Anderson Silva has a record of 33 wins and six losses. Middleweight champion between 2006 and 2013, Anderson overcame ten challengers and set the record for consecutive title defenses in UFC history. After breaking his leg in the rematch against Chris Weidman, in December last year, Spider has projected his return to the octagon for 2015.
