In addition to evaluating cases involving Wanderlei Silva, Chael Sonnen and anti-doping tests, the Nevada Athletic Commission (NSAC) had other important matters on the agenda at the hearing held this Tuesday (17). At the meeting, it was decided that Herb Dean would be the referee of the fight between Chris Weidman e Lyoto Machida, who will win the UFC middleweight belt on July 5th, in Las Vegas.

Dean was the mediator for Weidman's two fights against Anderson Silva, which also took place in Las Vegas. Machida shared the octagon with the referee for the last time in February 2013, in his fight against Dan Henderson, which he won by split decision.

The judges, who will score the fight if it reaches the end of the fifth round, will be Chris Lee, Marcos Rosales and Glenn Trowbridge. Rosales was one of the judges of the first fight between Machida and Mauritius Shogun, which generated controversy with the unanimous victory of “Dragon”. He also recently highlighted another fight that caused controversy, among Diego Sanchez and Ross Pearson, being the only one to give victory to the Englishman.

In the other UFC 175 title fight, between Ronda Rousey e Alexis Davis, the central referee will be Yves Lavigne. The judges will be Derek Cleary, Doug Crosby and Sal D'Amato.
